Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily emerge or erase a part of informations included in a duplicating manuscript with optical radiation or heat supply only, by forming a coloring or decoloring layer with a film-forming material containing a photochromic material.
CONSTITUTION: A coloring or decoloring layer 3 is formed on information 2', expected to be selectively duplicated, in information 2 recorded onto a substrate 1 by a color ink, with a film-forming material containing a photochromic material which can be revesibly colored or decolored by light or heat. When the duplicating manuscript is used as such for duplicating, the information 2' is emerged on a duplicated matter without any hindrance on duplication by the layer 3, because the photochromic material usually assumes an achromatic or light color. When the information 2' is expected to be erased from the duplicated matter, the duplicating manuscript is irradiated through its front or back surface with ultraviolet rays to develop the photochromic material, i.e. to develop the coloring or decoloring layer 3, and to shield the information 2'. Consequently, a duplicated matter on which the other information 2 only is transferred is obtained by duplicating the treated manuscipt.
