Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the stirring capability of a cooler for improving its cooling effect by providing a rotary roll in a barrel and also a projection extending toward the apertures between the stirring blades of the rotary roll from the wall of the barrel. CONSTITUTION:A barrel 2 is provided with a jacket 4 on its periphery, through which a heat medium is moved from an inlet 5 to an outlet 6 through a spiral pathway 20 so as to heat or cool the barrel. Also, a projection 16 is provided from the inside of the barrel 2 toward the peripheral face of the rotary roll 3. A high- temperature melted resin coming from an inlet 7 is uniformly cooled by rotation of the rotary roll 3 while it reaches an outlet 8. That is, the contact between the molten resin being stirred and mixed and the surfaces of the rotary roll 3 and the barrel 4 is made uniform by means of large numbers of blades 13, 14, and 15 on the rotary roll 3 and also by means of the projection 16 extending from the inside of the barrel 2 toward the spertures between the blades 13, 14, and 15. Thus, uniform cooling of the molten resin can be attained.
