Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the dislodging of deposited metal by forming the upper part of a cooling base plate in proximity to the molten steel surface part into an easy-to-heat radiate shape in a mold coated with a heat resistant and abrasion resistant material on the inside wall surface of the mold. CONSTITUTION:For example, heat resistant and abrasion resistant nickel plating m1 and chrome plating m2are applied on the inside wall surface of a mold. A base plate is formed in such a manner that the depth D in the upper part of, for example, a cooling groove 5 is made larger than the depth (d) in the lower part, so that the upper part of the base plate close to the surface S1 of molten steel S is made easy to cool. In this way, the surface temp. T2 of the inside wall surface in the upper part of the mold is made lower than a conventional temp. T1, and a temp. difference from the surface in the lower part is decreased, whereby the dislodging of the deposited metal is prevented.
