Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure visibility without blur or double image for running at night in an anti-glare mirror device for a car by enclosing electrochromic matter between transparent electrodes with a highly reflective face on one side.
CONSTITUTION: In a reflection mirror, SnO2 or the like is evaporated inside transparent glasses 1 and 1' for constructing transparent electrodes 5 and 5', and Ag or the like is evaporated on the rear side of the reflective mirror for constructing a highly reflective mirror 6. These transparent electrode plates are piled up with a spacer 2 between, and electrochromic matter is enclosed into the gap. When the negative side of a DC electric source 10 is connected to the transparent electrode plate 5, the transmissivity of light is reduced, and the reduction rate corresponds to the applied voltage. Consequently, the glare light of a succeeding car can be continuously or discontinuously reduced by operating a switch 8 via a voltage regulation device 10 and a timer 9.
