Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide the wire material having excellent strength and compression processability, by annealing the wire material obtained by the wire drawing processing of an austenite-containing stainless steel material and further by applying a tensile stress of the yield point of the material or more to the wire to give it a tensile strain. CONSTITUTION:A rod made of austenite-containing stainless steel such as SUS304 and 201 is annealed and then washed with acid before it is drawn into wire. The obtained stainless steel wire 5 is laid several times between the minor diameter drums 2a and 3a of guide reels 2 and 3 from a supply reel 1, then led from a minor diameter drum 3a to a major diameter drum 2b, further laid several times between the major diameter drums 2b and 3b, and then wound up into a wind up reel 4. When the steel wire 5 transfers from the minor diameter drum 3a to the major diameter drum 2b, a tensile stress is applied to it to yield a tensile strain in it. The stainless steel wire material having high strength and excellent compression processability is prepared by giving continuously a tensile strain of 2-5% to the wire rotating continuously each reel of 1, 2, 3, and 4 and by winding up continuously the the steel wire 5.
