Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to arbitrarily control the radial distribution of the flow of a reducing gas in a blast furnace by a method wherein the water content of a slurry of pulverized coal is changed within a specified range and the slurry is blown into a blast furnace as an auxiliary fuel. CONSTITUTION:A surface active agent and water are supplied into an adjusting tank 3 from a supplying tank 1 for the surface active agent and a feed water supply pipe 2, respectively, and they are mixed with each other. The resulting aqueous solution and pulverized coal fed from a pulverized coal supplying device 4 are mixed with each other by stirring them in a mixing and storing tank 5 to prepare the slurry. The slurry is fed into a slurry supplying tank 8 and is stored. The water content of the slurry is adjusted to be within the range of 20-40wt% by adding water from a feed water supply pipe 9 as required, and then the slurry is blown into a blowing subpipe 13 through a nozzle 12 by a pressure feed pump 11. The water contained in the slurry is evaporated by hot air in the subpipe 13, while the thus dewatered slurry is injected into the furnace through a tuyere 14 and is burned. By the adjustment of the water content of the slurry, the depth of a raceway is controlled, the distribution of the flow of the reducing gas can be modified without controlling the distribution of materials charged via the top of the furnace, and a stable operation of the blast furnace can be accomplished.
