Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate positioning of an optical substrate and a supporting substrate by sloping the end parts of the optical substrate containing optical lines and the end parts of the optical fibers disposed to the supporting substrate opposite to the optical lines and disposing these in such a way that both slopes thereof are opposed. CONSTITUTION:A hole 5a is provided to a supporting substrate 5, and the edges of the hole 5a are diagonally polished to slopes 5b. The angle of the slope is kept at >=45 deg., and V grooves for positioning optical fibers are formed in the substrate 5. Optical fiber groups 6, 7 are disposed in said V grooves. On the other hand, the end faces of an optical substrate 1 are also polished to form slopes 1b in the end parts of optical lines 1a. The angle of the slope 1b is also kept at >=45 deg.. When the substrate 1 and substrate 5 worked in the above-mentioned manner are superposed in such a way that the slopes of the optical fiber groups and the optical lines oppose, the light past the optical fibers propagate in the direction parallel with the optical lines 1a, whilist the light past the optical lines 1a propagates in the optical fibers. With such constitution, the locating of the optical substrate and the supporting substrate is completed simply by the locating in the right and left directions alone, hence it is accomplished extremely easily.
