Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform the judgment of the size of an object to be sensed and the setting of the field of sensing by a simple constitution, by fixing the period of scanning pulses of semiconductor image sensor, and processing the pulse in a timer. CONSTITUTION:An object to be sensed 2 exists between a light source which transmits parallel light and a condenser lens, and the light is projected on many light sensing elements in a semiconductor image sensor 11. The scanning pulses phi are sent to the semiconductor image sensor 11 from a frequency fixed type oscillator 21. Each element is sequentially scanned by a scanning pulse from the scanning start pulse ST to the scanning end pulse ED, and the brightness state is read out. This signal is sent to a D type flip flop 14 through an amplifier 12 and a binary circuit 13, and further sent to a timer 31. An output H is generated for a specific time length in the timer 31 when its input is changed for from H to L. An output L not sent out to a timer 17 when the output of the timer 31 is H, and the output is not generated in the timer 17. Therefore, the object to be sensed having an arbitrary size can be judged by only changing the setting time of the timer 31.
