Abstract

PURPOSE:To economically produce the hard crushed slag of uniform quality by spreading molten slag thinly to a flat shape and dropping the same by means of a molten slag spout made of metal of an upward facing U-shape in section and allowing the same to contact the cooling fluid which is being injected from a blowing device. CONSTITUTION:While a molten slag spout 1 made of metal having an upward facing U-shaped section is being cooled by passing a cooling medium such as water in the hollow part 1a thereof, the molten metal 4 discharged from a blast furnace or the like is spread thinly to a flat shape and is flowed out by the spout 1. With this outflowing state held maintained, the molten slag 4 is dropped to the front surface part 2a side of a blowing device 2, and cooling fluid by water, air or the like is injected through injection holes 3, whereby the molten slag 4 is quickly cooled and crushed. The crushed slag is granular hard crushed slag which is recovered after dehydration.
