Abstract
PURPOSE:To economize energy by setting the cooling states of a continuously cast ingot according to desired cooling patterns, and performing the recovery of the sensible heat and latent heat of the ingot in a liquid state, and the absorption of the sensible heat and latent heat of the ingot in a gaseous and superheated state continuously by using the same refrigerant. CONSTITUTION:A cooler consists of the curved part in the guiding part in succession to a mold MD, as a force cooling zone W2 where plural liquid refrigerant supply and discharge members B1 are disposed above and below, as well as a horizontal part as a slow cooling zone SZ where plural gas refrigerant supply and discharge parts B2 are disposed. a liquid refrigerant is introduced into the members B1 through liquid refrigerant supply devices 1-4, and the high temp. discharging liquid produced therein is fed to a gas-liquid separators, the gaseous refrigerant produced wherein is fed to the members B2. The superheated discharge gas produced here is fed to an energy recovery device 7, by which energy is recovered. Thereafter, it is cyclically used as the liquid refrigerant.
