Abstract

PURPOSE: To well prevent the cracking of an enamel layer when enamel is baked and to provide a high quality enameled bathtub having a metallic tone by adding inorg. particles coated with a metal to the enamel layer.
CONSTITUTION: Enamel mixed with mica particles or inorg. particles of feldspar, quartz or the like coated with titanium oxide, Al, Cr or other metal is baked to manufacture the desired enameled bathtub. The inorg. particles are prepared, e.g., by spraying mica particles from a nozzle and spraying molten titanium oxide on the sprayed particles from other nozzle or vacuum-depositing titanium oxide. Ground coat enamel 2 contg. cobalt oxide, etc. is baked on the base material 1 of a bathtub made of iron or the like to form an intermediate enamel layer 3. Enamel frit mixed with said inorg. particles is then sprayed at the baking temp. of the layer 3, i.e., at about 1,000°C and baked to form an enamel layer 4.
