Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a rolled resin sheet having a uniform thickness and a small quantity of internal strain with an enhanced formability, in a resin scrapless forming method with pressurized air, by using upper and lower platens whose facing surfaces are smoothed into a mirror state.
CONSTITUTION: A heated synthetic resin sheet cut piece is rolled between upper and lower platens 12, 14 and upper and lower rings 16, 18 into a rolled sheet 10 having a reversed tray-shape. Thereafter, the upper and lower platens 12, 14 are removed, and the upper ring 16 is then closed with a cover 52 while the lower ring 18 is closed with a forming die 54. In this state, the rolled sheet 10 is formed with pressurized air. Steel platens prepared by polishing the surfaces of steel platens, plating the polished surfaces with hard chromium layers having a thickness of 3W 100μ or so, and then smoothing the facing surfaces into a mirror state are used as the platens to be used in the aforesaid method.
