PURPOSE:To reduce jitter of reproduced video signals and to prevent the deterioration of playback video quality, by switching digital data of a video signal and a synchronizing signal with an identifying signal and recording it through the addition of the identifying signal. CONSTITUTION:A video signal SVin is sampled with an A/D converter 1 for digital conversion. A shift register 2 samples a synchronizing signal Hin for serial-parallel conversion to output a digital signal. An identifying circuit 4 identifies the video signal from the synchronizing signal and both the signals are recorded on a recorder 7 through the changeover with a switching circuit 5. Data are read out from a recorder 7 with a readout circuit 8 and the production of playback sampling pulse, synchronism detection and serial-parallel conversion can be made with the data and a clock signal. The video signal is applied to a D/A converter 10 with a switching circuit 9 and the synchronizing signal is applied to a horizontal synchronizing signal playback circuit.
