Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent seizure, etc. and facilitate easy maintenance by interlocking the motion of the starter, through a gear and a one-way clutch, with a stay installed on the outer wall of a crank shaft without wet lubrication.
CONSTITUTION: A housing case 1A, 1B is installed outside a crank case 2 containing a crank shaft 3 therein. A pair of sheaves 6A, 6B, with space between them changeable in proportion to the speed, are provided at the end of the shart 3, driving the rear wheel through a belt 15. A cylindrical stay 16 is fixed to the shaft 3 with an oil seal 18 inbetween. Through an oil-contained bearing 21 and a ratchet gear 19, the stay 16 is geared with a gear 20 which is connected to the drive shaft 27 of a starter motor 26. The stay 16 is also connected to a one-way clutch consisting of a stay 22, a counter spring 25 and ratchet clicks 23. The motion of the clutch is interlocked with a spline 3A.
