Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain hydrous gel which gels at a low temp. in a short time and imparts prolonged flexibility and adhesion when used for skin remedy, by irradiating a W/O emulsion consisting of an oily continuous phase composed of a rubber component and an oil component, and an aqueous component with an ionizing radation.
CONSTITUTION: A W/O emulsion consisting of 100pts.wt. oily continuous phase composed of about 5W20pts.wt. rubber material and/or liquid rubber and about 95W80pts.wt. oil component such as process oil, cyinder oil or liquid paraffin, and 5W250pst.wt. aqueous component such as city water or deionized water, is crosslinked by the irradiation with 1W200M rad of an inonizing radiation such as a high-energy electron radiation emitted from an electron accelerator. It is possible to irradiate with an ionized radiation after the emulsion is applied to a nonwoven or woven textile, or when the emulsion is extruded into a thin layer or applied to a temporary substrate as a thin layer.
