Abstract
PURPOSE: To accomplish smooth melting operation without generation of electric discharge, by preburning carbonaceous components in a combustion furnace to lower residual carbon content at about 2% or less.
CONSTITUTION: Raw material to be disposed is crushed and severed into a proper size, if necessary, and charged into an incinerator 1 to destroy combustible substances by fire. Thereafter, the material is charged into a combustion furnace 3, where unburnt carbon is burnt to lower carbon content at about 2% or less. On the other hand, metal pieces M and glass and ceramic pieces G separated by a screen 2 are separated by a magnetic separator 5. Dielectric substance pieces such as the glass pieces or the like G are fed to a crusher 6, and crushed into fine particles having a particle size of about 5mm or less. Thus, the incinerated matters, the fine glass pieces and the like are reserved in a hopper 7, fed into a microwave melting furnace 9, and heated and melted therein. Consequently, the heating and melting can be done without generation of electric discharge, and a solidified matter obtained from the melted materials is rigid and tough.
