Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a plunger from vibration at its end part and surely perform engagement at a gear part in the plunger in which a pinion clutch of the starter and ring gear are meshed by moving a shift lever, by supporting both ends of the plunger.
CONSTITUTION: A plunger 6a slidably supported to a gear case 27 is axially moved by excitation of a solenoid coil to move a shift lever 25. An end part B of the shift lever 25 is engaged to a pinion clutch to perform engagement to a ring gear according to a turning motion of the lever and start an engine. One end of the plunger 6a is supported to a coil case 32 while the other ends 6, 30 are guided and supported by a boss 28 formed in the gear case 27.
