Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve compatibility between the copying and separation performance, by controlling the potential of a conductive carrying member with an external power supply and controlling the timing with the detected result of the induced potential of the member. CONSTITUTION:A conductive belt 6 is grounded via a power supply circuit 8 and the potential is controlled with the circuit 8. The circuit 8 is controlled with a timer circuit 9, which is triggered with the output of an induced potential detecting circuit 11. The induced potential of the belt 6 is detected, which is caused with the approach of a paper 4, and a DC voltage is applied to the belt 6 from the circuit 8 by taking this detected output as a start signal.
