Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a plastic lens with a high refractive index and high surface hardness by using a copolymer of diethylene glycol bisallyl carbonate, triallyl isocyanurate and phenyl methacylate. CONSTITUTION:A mixed soln. consisting of 60 parts (80-40wt%) diethylene glycol bisallyl carbonate, 20 parts (10-30wt%) triallyl isocyanurate, 20 parts (10-30wt%) phenyl methacrylate and 4 parts diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate is poured into a casting case composed of 2 glass molds and a gasket made of ethylene- vinyl acetate copolymer resin, and it is heated from 40 deg.C to 90 deg.C in 24hr. The resulting lens is taken out and annealed at 120 deg.C for 1hr to obtain a lens with a high refractive index such as 1.526 and high surface hardness such as 4H pencil hardness.
