Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled easily workable, low-chromatic aberration resin prepared by copolymerizing a monomer for a high-refractive index resin with a monomer for a high-Abbe's number resin and a monomer having at least two double bonds, for increasing a crosslinking density.
CONSTITUTION: Titled resin is prepared by copolymerizing a monomer (A) for a resin having a refractive index of 1.6W1.75 D, for example, styrene or diphenylmethyl methacrylate with a monomer (B) which forms a resin having a refractive index of at least 1.55 and an Abbe's number of at least 40, such as ethyl α-bromoacrylate or lanthanum acrylate and a monomer (C) having at least two double bonds, or example, dially phthalate or triallyl cyanurate. The use of this high- refractive index resin in lenses makes it possible to produce lenses which are about 40W50% thinner and about 20W40% lighter as compared with conventional lenses.
