Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat-storing material that is composed of a sodium chloride-ammonium nitrate mixture containing a specific amount of sodium chloride, thus showing high thermal efficiency and being highly reliable, because of its high chemical and thermal stability.
CONSTITUTION: A sodium chloride-ammonium nitrate mixture containing about 8mol%, preferably 6W10mol% of sodium chloride is used to produce the objective heat-storing material utilizing the latent heat of melting and freezing of the mixture.
EFFECT: When the heat-storing material is placed in a vessel and made to generate heat, it gives heat of 160 joule/g in a temperature range from 123W125°C. Further, supercooling is inhibited on the course of heat cycle. Since the compounds used are anhydrous, the material causes no corrosion.
