Abstract
PURPOSE:To stop a plant immediately when a stress exceeding a permissible value is applied in the plant, by estimating an internal state which can not be measured, by calculating dynamic characteristics on an on-line basis. CONSTITUTION:Inputs to a plant 1 are stored in a data storage device 5 successively, and a stress analyzer 6 is used for arithmetic processing to calculate off-line dynamic characteristics, thereby analyzing the stress of the plant 1. This internal state variable is compared with a permissible value, determined by the stress-intensity function of the plant 1, by a discriminator 2 together with a measurable state variable and if one variable exceeds the permissible value, a plant stop signal is generated 8 to stop the plant immediately. Thus, the fault of the plant 1 is monitored on an on-line basis.
