Abstract
PURPOSE:To evenly cool a coiled hot-rolled steel wire by lessing difference in temperature between the rings of the coiled hot-rolled steel wire by a method in which the temperature of the coiled hot-rolled steel wire is measured on the way of its delivery, and according the measured temperature, the temperature and amount of refrigerant used are regulated and also the pressure inside a heat-insulating cover is regulated. CONSTITUTION:A steel wire after being hot-rolled is molded into a coil 1 and then sent on a conveyer 5, during which period temperature of each portion of the ring of the coil is measured in an uncoiling region by a noncontact scanning type thermometer 2, and its signal is processed in a signal processor 16 to fetch out a peak temperature. The peak temperature is put in a refrigerant temperature arithmetic unit 17, where the value of optimum refrigerant-spraying temperature is calculated and its signal is put in a temperature controller 12. Then, refrigerant is sprayed onto the position of peak temperature by a nozzle 3, where the temperature of the refrigerant is kept at a desired one by operating a cold air-suction rate regulating valve 8 and a high-temperature atmosphere-suction rate regulating valve 8' for the heat-insulating cover. Also, the pressure of the heat-insulating cover 4 is detected by a pressure detector 20, and a pressure control damper 22 is regulated to keep the inside of the heat-insulating cover 4 under a given pressure.
