Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the peak value of an input signal fast at a high accuracy by sampling hold of the signal each time it reaches maximum thereof so that it can be detected at each half cycle. CONSTITUTION:After converted to an absolute value with an absolute value circuit 11, a sine wave signal is applied to a positive peak detection circuit 12 and charges a capacitor C1 through an operatonal amplifier OP1. As soon as the input passes the maximum value thereof, the output of the amplifier OP1 falls suddenly to control a sampling hold circuit 17 through a one shot multivibrator 15 so that the charge voltage is sample held corresponding to the input maximum value of the capacitor C1. On the other hand, the output of the multivibrator 15 closes a switch SW2 to reset a negative peak detection circuit 13. Likewise, the circuit 12 is reset in response to the derection of a negative peak through the circuit 13. This enables fast and highly accurate detection of the peak value of input cycle signal without delay at each half cycle.
