Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the head to be capped and to prevent electrodes from being smudged by drops of ink by a method wherein a charge electrode and a deflection electrode are held on a stand-by position and an ink jet head alone is moved to the home position. CONSTITUTION:When the head 4 is in the stand-by position B and in the printing zone, an electrode body 6 is held at a predetermined interval to a hold plate 11 by the deflection force of coil springs 10, 10' mounted respectively on slide shafts 9, 9.'. As a result the charge electrode 7 and the deflection electrode 8 are held at a defined position in the jetting direction of ink. When a main switch is turned off at this stand-by position B a carriage 5 allows the head 4 to move to the home positon A but since a stopper 13 is provided in the opposite part of the electrode body 6, the electrode body 6 is held at the stand-by position B and the head 4 alone moves to the home position.
