Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of an ink delivery port of ink jet heads by sliding a cap thereover as provided at the port in a multi-array orifice type ink jet recorder. CONSTITUTION:A cap 209 of ink jet heads is connected to an oscillating transmission plate 206 on the support shaft 211 thereof and fixed on a fixing block 208 with a slotted screw 207. Furthermore, the cap 209 is always drawn toward a head mounting plate 217 with a spring 210 and gets in contact with a contact pressure adjusting plate 213 and a roller 212 when non in recording. At this point, the head 214 gets tight on a porous body 215 in the cap 209 to absorb ink. When recording is started, with the action of a motor 201 and a control mechanism 202, the mounting plate 217 moves in the direction of the arrow and stops at the position as shown by the chain line. The cap 209 is turned in the direction of the arrow on the support shaft 211 and pushed down to the position as shown by the chain line. The roller 212 helps push the cap 209.
