Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an expanded sheet excellent in its physical property, workability and economy, by tightly squeezing an olefinic resin sheet, in which a peroxide and a foaming agent contained in it are not decomposed or reacted yet, between two endless belts, and carrying the sheet as such while heating it for cross-linking and foaming reactions.
CONSTITUTION: 100P HR of an olefinic resin (e.g. PF, PP or the like) is mixed with a peroxide (e.g. dicumyl peroxide or the like), a cross-linking assistant (e.g. trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate or the like) and a foaming agent (e.g. azodicarboxylic amide or the like), each being 0.5W5P HR, A filler, a silane agent or a lubricant may be optionally added into the mixture. A sheet is prepared from this mixture under the condition that the peroxide and the foaming agent are not decomposed or reacted. The sheet is tightly squeezed between two endless belts and carried in a state not to come in contact with the air. In this state, the sheet is heated to do cross-linking and foaming reactions. Thereafter, the treated sheet is released from the space between the endless belts, and cooled between rolls. Thus, a high cross-linking rate can be esily and continuously attained, and an expanded having a foaming magnification of 2W15 fold can be obtained.
