Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of picture quality due to a tracking shift that is caused in a slow motion reproduction mode, by shifting the position of noise occurrence so as to fall into the eliminating period of flyback as much as possible and in a range where no overlap is caused between the noise occurrence position and the vertical synchronous signal part. CONSTITUTION:A switch 36 is switched from the 1st contact that designates a normal picture reproduction to the 2nd contact that designates a slow motion reproduction. Thus a motor 22 is turned in steps and with a timing of generating of a modulated output S46 having a cycle of several times as much as a vertical synchronous pulse S22. The shifting extent of a tape 10 with every step of the motor is proportional to the amplitude of an output 64. Accordingly if a noise is detected at the area near the center of a field, the difference of phase of a comparison signal produced by pulses S52 and S22 that is caused at the point of noise occurrence is increased. As a result, the shifting extent of step which is caused per step by the output 64 is increased. Thus the phase difference between the pulse S52 and the signal S40 is decreased, and finally the position of the pulse S52 is converged into a vertical flyback time and within a range where no overlap is caused between the noise occurrence position and the vertical synchronous signal part S20.
