Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of the main body device, by performing a binary coding with the reference level signal which varies regularly within the unit cycle of the picture element signal and at the same time shifting the phase of the reference level signal by an extent equivalent to the fixed picture element signal period and with every main scanning period. CONSTITUTION:The video signals 16-19 have the levels corresponding to the intermediate gradation part of the information pattern. For the unit cycles T6-T9 of the reference level signals 20-23 in each main scanning period, the phase is shifted by an extent equivalent to a picture element signal period and with every main scanning period in a cycle of the period of four picture element signals. Accordingly, the time point of comparison between the video signal and the reference level signal in each main scanning period is shifted by the period of a picture element signal, and the binary coded signals corresponding to the video signals 16-19 become the waveforms as shown by E, F, G and H respectively. The states of printing based on each binary coded signal are shown by I, J, K and L each. Thus the printing is carried out with the phase shifted by an extent equivalent to a picture element signal period.
