Abstract

PURPOSE:To record a perfect pattern which is free from a drop-off of dots with use of a small number of component parts, by forming an optical print head with a converging fiber array and a light emitting element array and setting the optical axis of the fiber array almost perpendicular to the surface of a photosensitive drum. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element (LED) array 7 is formed to each of plural ceramic headers 6, and these arrays 7 are distributed in two rows sandwiching a prism mirror 8. One side of each low is refered to as the X row, and the other is the Y row respectively. The light emitted from a light emitting part of the array 7 containing the X and Y rows is reflected by the mirror 8 to be made incident to a converging fiber array 9. At the same time, an optical image 7b of the array 7 formed on a photosensitive drum 4 is arranged on a straight line with each row with a pitch of a double value as much as the length of the light emitting part of each array 7 in the direction of arrangement. Then the array 7 is turned on and off by a control circuit to ensure an image formation on the drum 4, and the light of the array 7 of each row is made incident onto the drum 4 with almost a perpendicular angle. Thus a perfect pattern can be recorded without any drop-off of dots.
