Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the degrading of picture quality due to a dark time signal component of a solid-state image sensor, by picking up both signals of a picture signal and the dark time signal from a storage medium alternately storing, and obtaining a compensation signal for the difference of both the signals. CONSTITUTION:After an objective of a low intensity of illumination is picked up with an electronic camera using a solid-state image sensor, a charge stored to each picture element is stored on a magnetic tape as a dark time signal component while a shutter is shut for a time corresponding to the photo sensing time. A magnetic tape reproducing circuit 31 picks up the picture signal and the signal is stored to a memory 33 via a gate 32. The dark time signal is picked up at the circuit 21, applied to a signal difference circuit 34 via the gate 32, the difference with the picture signal in the memory 33 is calculated at each picture element to obtain a compensation signal. This compensation signal is applied to a picture reproducing section 35 for reproduction.
