Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain economic, safe and reliable operation of a pump, by detecting malfunctioning of a water level detector at an early stage by providing a timing control circuit adapted for opening a water level depressor intake valve for a predetermined while in a water level controlling system including a water level depressor. CONSTITUTION:When a main control switch is turned to ''operation'' side in starting operation of a pump, a pump operating relay is energized on condition that conditions for starting operation of the pump are satisfied. Resultantly, an air intake valve 19 is opened and compressed air in an air tank 13 is supplied to a runner chamber 8 via an air supply pipe 17, so that the water level in the runner chamber 8 is depressd to the position of a detector 11 of a water level detector 9. When the water level is lowered to a predetermined position, the electric circuit of the detector 11 is opened. This causes closing of the intake valve 19, so that supply of compressed air to the runner chamber 8 is stopped. Therefore, the air intake valve 19 is opened only for a predetermined while during water level depressing operation required before starting pumping operation.
