Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a hollow molded article of a crystalline resin excellent in surface appearance, by a method wherein a molten parison consisting of a crystalline resin is clamped between molds heated to a temperature of hot lower than the crystallization point of the resin, and after blow molding, the mold temperature is lowered to the crystallization point or below. CONSTITUTION:Molds are provided with a heater using steam or the like and a cooler using water or the like, and the molten parison of a crystalline resin such as polypropylene is clamped between the molds heated to a temperature of higher than the crystallization point of the resin by about 5-20 deg.C, followed by blow molding to bring the parison into sufficiently close contact with the inside surface of the molds. Then, the mold temperature is lowered to or below the crystallization point of the resin to obtain the objective hollow molded article. The molded article thus obtained has a surface free from such defects as melt fractures, die lines and ribbing patterns, so that a molded article having beautiful appearance and high commercial value can be obtained.
