Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a portable gas chromatograph without requiring high pressure gas cylinders by providing a reaction device that decomposes or reduces steam from a steam supply device and using the gas containing H2 that is developed from the reaction device as the fuel for hydrogen flame ionization detector. CONSTITUTION:Steam is supplied via an adjusting valve 2' from a steam supply device 1 into a steam reduction reaction vessel 6 in which a vessel that can be heated to about 1,000 deg.C by a heater is filled with activated charcoal minute powder, and a gas mixture including H2 and CO gases produced in the reaction vessel 6 is supplied to hydrogen flame ionization device 5 and burned there. On the other hand a part of the steam is sent from an adjusting valve 2 to the section 3 where specimens are poured in, and a specimen as a carrier is transported to a device 5 through a column 4. With this arrangement a gas chromatograph 10 that does not require a high pressure cylinder for carrier gas and H2 and suitable as portable can be obtained.
