Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent clogging of main nozzles owing to splashes and to stabilize work by wiping both end edges of a steel strip to be plated with auxiliary nozzles then wiping both surfaces with the main nozzles over the entire surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:Main nozzles 1 are disposed on the front and rear surfaces of a steel strip B to be plated which is drawn out from a plating bath A, and the weight of hot dip-plated metal is controlled to a constant weight by injecting the pressurized gas. A pair of auxiliary nozzles 2 are disposed toward both end edges of the strip B at the intermediate of the bath A and the nozzles 1, and the distances Xa, Xb between the end edges of the strip B and the nozzles 2 are controlled with respect to a set value Xm by distance detectors 3, a servocontrol mechanism 4, a controller 5, etc. The nozzles 2 wipe the molten metal (a) stuck on the strip B by injecting the pressurized gas supplied through pipings 6 and blow the same from the end edge parts toward the central parts, thereby forming the parts (b) where the stuck metal is thin near the end eges.
