Abstract
PURPOSE:To make energy consumption less and coke ratio lower as compared to a blast furnace method and to permit the use of low grade raw materials by combining a reducing furnace for iron ore and a furnace for melting reduced iron and producing reducing gas. CONSTITUTION:O2 10, steam 11 and grained coal 12 are blown through tuyeres 5 of a melting gasifying furnace 1, and CO and H2 based high temp. combustion gases are produced in a combustion chamber (a). These are flowed to a heating part (b) and a melting part (c) consisting of packed beds of coke, coal, limestone, etc. charged through an inlet 6 to melt the reduced iron, after which the molten iron is removed through an outlet 8. While the melt of the reduced iron and the gangue contained therein is dropped in the part (b), it is subjected to carburization, SiO2 reduction reaction, etc., then it is recovered together with the coke formed in the chamber (a), the ashes of the powder coal and the slag of the melt of the lime into a molten metal well (d) and these are removed through a tap hole 9. The reduced iron and the coke are replenished from chutes 26, 27. The gases entering a moving bed type reducing furnace 2 reduce the iron core through an inlet 21, after which they are recovered through an outlet 22. The reduced iron dispensed from the furnace 2 is charged into the furnace 1.
