PURPOSE:To obtain a muting circuit which has less external connection terminals and suits to IC-implementation, by providing a voltage comparing circuit and a by-pass element in parallel between a single input terminal and a single output terminal. CONSTITUTION:A voltage comparing circuit which outputs the 1st output signal by comparison with a reference voltage, and a by-pass element which outputs the 2nd output signal by conducting in accordance with the voltage level of an input signal are parovided in parallel between a single input terminal 3 and a single output terminal 4. For example, a muting circuit is compoed of an integrated circuit IC shown in the figure and the output of the differential amplifying circuit consisting of transistors (TR)Q1 and Q2, etc., is detected by a TRQ3. Further, diodes D1 and D2 are allowed to operate as the by-pass element for a muting control signal supplied from the 3rd terminal. When a power source is turned on, or when respective operation buttons on a control panel 1 are operated, muting is carried out through a TRQ10.
