Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve invariably adequate fixation even when recording paper varies in moving speed, by turning on and off a heat radiation source according to the moving distance and speed of the recording paper and the temperature of a fixing device. CONSTITUTION:While recording paper 1 moves at some speed or higher, the interval of pulses (a) outputted from a measuring circuit 7 for recording paper moving distance at certain intrvals of distance is less than some time (t), so any pulse (b) is not outputted. Then, an FF10 is set and a heat radiation source 4 is turned on. When recording paper 1 moves at some speed or lower a timer 8 for recording paper speed monitoring outputs a pulse (b) to set an FF14, so the FF10 is not set, so that the radiation source 4 is not turned on. When the recording paper 1 moves at a high speed continuously, a temperature detecting element 6 detects the temperature of a fixing device and on the basis of its detection signal, a temperature control circuit 13 varies the operation time and speed values of a timer 8, a turn-on time timer 9, and a low-speed detecting circuit 12. Thus, heat input to the recording paper 1 and fixation are carried out adequately all the time.
