Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid dispersion in a detection time with a simple constitution, by inputting a periodic on/off signal from a rotating detector to a microprocessor and making a tape end detection with a software processing. CONSTITUTION:A rotary magnet 10 interlocked with tape run, a rotating detector 12 generating an on/off signal periodically with the rotation, and a waveform processing circuit consisting of a differentiating circuit 20 and a switching circuit 22, are provided. Depending on an input signal directly or via the waveform processing circuit from the device 12 if it is within a reference time width or changing, a tape end is detected with a microprocessor 24. Thus, the number of components in the hardware can be reduced and the necessity of a rectifying circuit with a long time constant is avoided, allowing to decrease the end detecting time and to avoide the lowering in the accuracy of detection due to dispersion in the component characteristics.
