Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain prescribed torque even if the exhaust pressure of a rotary expander for a heat-driven refrigerator or the like fluctuates, by providing exhaust valves on vanes which are fitted in the grooves of an eccentrically rotating rotor so that the vanes can be protruded out of the grooves and retracted into them and by causing the exhaust valves to function to discharge gas in a prescribed direction. CONSTITUTION:The expander of a heat-driven refrigerator, which is supplied with solar heat or the like, comprises a cylinder 10 having a gas inlet port 14 and a gas outlet port 15 and a rotor 11 which is eccentrically rotated while sliding on the inside surface of the cylinder. Vanes 13a-13d are inserted in radial grooves 12 provided at regular intervals in the rotor 11, so that the vanes can be protruded out of the grooves and retracted into them. Pressure equalizing holes 16 are provided in the vanes 13a-13d so that the holes can be optionally opened or closed by exhaust valves 17 made of spring plates or the like and fitted in the recesses 18 of the vanes. According to this constitution, even if the exhaust pressure fluctuates, prescribed torque is obtained because of the opening or closing of the pressure equalizing holes 16 by the valves 17.
