Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain effective reutilization of a catalyst, by a method wherein magnetizable catalyst particles separated by a high-gradient magnetic separator are further ground finely and the ground particles are again separated by the high-gradient magnetic separator.
CONSTITUTION: Catalyst particles used in fluidized catalytic cracking of heavy petroleum oils are separated into magnetizable catalyst particles having nickel or vanadium in a heavy oil accumulated thereon and non-magnetizable catalyst particles by using a high-gradient magnetic separator. The magnetizable catalyst particles are further finely ground and the finely ground particles are again separated into a magnetizable component and a non-magnetizable component by the high-gradient magnetic separator. The obtained non-magnetizable component is used as a starting material of a fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst. By this method, effective reutilization of a catalyst and resource saving are attained.
