Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a necessary catalyst amount, by a method wherein the catalyst particle withdrawn from a fluidized cat cracker is sent to a high magnetic force magnetic separator to be separated into a magnetizable catalyst particle and a non-magnetizable catalyst particle and the latter is returned to the cracker to be reused therein.
CONSTITUTION: A fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst such as silica-alumina containing a zeolite is used and, while part of the catalyst is replaced with a new catalyst, heavy oils are subjected to fluidized catalytic cracking. Part of the catalkyst particle with a prticle size of 1W1,000μ fluidized in a cat cracker is withdrawn and, by using air, steam or nitrogen as a transfer fluid, transferred to a high magnetic force magnetic separtor with a particle concn. of 0.01W500g/l and at a transfer fluid speed of 0.1W100m/sec. In this separator, the transferred particle is separted into a magnetizable catalyst particle containing 500ppm or more of ferromagnetic nickel derived from nickel contained in the stock oil and a non-magnetizable catalyst particle and the latter is returned into the cracker to be reused therein.
