Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the titled paper less liable to fogging of texture and excellent in property of reproducing printed dots, by a method wherein a heat-sensitive layer comprises of a dye precurser and a phenolic substance is provided by coating on the cast side of a special machine glazed paper. CONSTITUTION:A paper produced from pulp by a cylinder paper machine is cast-dried by a mirror-surface drier such as a Yankee drier to obtain a machine glazed paper having a Bekk smoothness of at least 100 and a pH of water extracts of 6-9. A heat-sensitive liquid coating material prepared by separately dispersing a colorless or light-colored dye precurse (e.g., crystal violet lactone) and a phenolic substance (e.g., 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol) into binders to produce dispersed liquids and then mixing the dispersed liquids with each other is coated on the cast side of the machine glazed paper, and is dried to obtain the objective heat-sensitive paper.
