Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the detection of an instantaneous exposure of radiation or high frequency electromagnetic wave energy by converting the radiation or high frequency electromagnetic wave energy into a light by a chemical ionization and sensing it by a phototransistor. CONSTITUTION:The interior of a hollow sphere 1 having approx. 5-30mm. of a diameter made of black hard plastic of the structure that no light is introduced to the interior is evacuated in a low vacuum, and a scintillator 2 (fluorescent substance) is filled therein. Then, a photodiode 3 of high sensitivity for detecting the light in the sphere 1 is provided in the sphere 1. When an electromagnetic wave of the prescribed intensity is emitted to the sphere, a gaseous scintillator 2 (mercury) disposed therein is ionized, and a weak light is emitted. This light is sensed by the photodiode 3.
