PURPOSE:To enable time setting operation easily even in case of short period cooking, by a method wherein resistance which varies terminal voltage of a time setting volume in a timer is provided and a space between the resistance and the volume is opened or closed by a changeover switch. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputor 12 in a digital indication timer is generating scanning voltage of 64 steps, and a comparator 11 is reversed at a low value of the scanning voltage, a signal of which is applied to the microcomputor 12 when voltage Ex between both terminals of a time setting volume 13 is small. Then, the maximum setting time T is varied drastically according to the above voltage Ex. In this instance, a series circuit of resistance 15 and a changeover switch 16 is connected in parallel with the above volume 13. With this, setting time and a volume turning angle are made to vary as per a full line A graph when the switch 16 is turned ON and vary as per a chain line B graph when the switch 16 is turned OFF, and expansion of the volume turning angle at the time of setting for short time is contrived for making time setting operation easy.
