Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a plastic die for formation of ink jet nozzles which is of high accuracy, is suited for mass production and is at a low cost by performing electrocasting by the use of a master mold provided with a hole for formation of an ink ejection port at one end.
CONSTITUTION: A hole 6 for forming an ink ejection port is punched with high accuracy at one end of a master mold body 5 which is made to the same outside dimensions as those of a nozzle to be manufactured by using a metal or ceramic, whereby a master mold 4 is obtained. This mold 4 is put in an Ni electrocasting bath 10 of an electrocasting cell 9, and is electrocast by the application of a voltage from an electric power source 12 between the same and an electrode 11, whereby an Ni layer 13 is formed on the mold 4. This mold is removed from the cell and the mold 4 is removed from the resultant casting 13. The outside circumference thereof is machined to finish an electrocast mold 14 having a projection 15 for the formation of the ink ejection port. This mold 4 and a mold 17 having a die 16 to be formed with an ink introduction hole are combined, and plastics are cast therein, whereby the nozzle is formed.
