Abstract

PURPOSE:To heighten the degree of tight contact of meeting surfaces of a fixed and a moving dies, by shaping one of the dies to protrude its meeting surface by a predetermined quantity and using the shaped die as an electrode to perform spark erosion on the meeting surface of the other die. CONSTITUTION:A core member 6 provided with a cavity 5 is fitted in the opening 11 of a moving die 7 for injection molding. The meeting surface 9' of the core member 6 is protruded by a minute predetermined quantity H above on offset quantity (h). After the meeting surface 9 of a fixed die 4 is roughly processed, the die is secured on the table of a spark erosion machine and the moving die 7 is used electrode to perform spark erosion on the fixed die 4 to machine the fixed die 4 and the moving die 7 so that their meeting surfaces 9, 9' can be put in tight contact with each other along their entire periphery. In the injection molding, cavities 2, 5 are securely sealed to prevent fins from being made.
