Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the temp. of the work to prescribed values without repeating the putting out and ignition of burners in a heating furnace wherein the work and high temp. gases are flowed counter currents in the plural zones provided with burners by controlling the combustion rates of a specific zone. CONSTITUTION:In a nonoxidative heating furnace 1, high temp. gases generated by burners 5 are flowed in the direction Y opposite from the advancing direction of the work W. A selector 20 determines a combustion zone number N by the calculation from heating condition data, and in the case of N=3, switches 9 are changed over like the figure. In zones 34, 35, the burners 5 are put out. In zones 31-33, the output of a work temp. controller 8 is applied as an equal quantity signal to a heating controller 10 for respective zones, and in accordance with the output of an IR thermometer 7, the combustion rates of the burners 5 in the respective zones are controlled. The work temp. is controlled to prescribed values by this. it is equally well to burn at the max. combustion rate only in the zone 31 and to use the zones 32, 33 as control zones.
