Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the bending deformability of fillet weld zones by subjecting the toes of weld in the fillet weld zones to a heat treatment for remelting partially by a TIG welding method thereby smoothing the shapes of the toes of weld and relieving stress concentration. CONSTITUTION:The mating parts of a side plate 12 and a bottom plate 14 of a tank are fillet-welded in such a way that the weld zones of Tee type joints are formed. The toes 18 of weld of these fillet weld zones 16 are subjected to a heating treatment for remelting without fillet rods by a TIG welding method. In this way, the shapes of the toes 18 are smoothed, bead waves are trimmed and stress concentration is relieved. The bending deformability in the zones 16 is improved.
