Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a roll for a roll forming machine, which is capable of shortening a roll replacing work time and making a roll cost inexpensive, by forming one or more sectional rolls by conbining a step roll provided with a staircase-like step in the circumferential direction, changing this combination angle, and varying the axial direction width of this step roll. CONSTITUTION:A step roll 8 having a staircase-like step in the circumferential direction is formed in a hollow cylindrical shape so that its inside diameter side can be fitted into the roll axis. Height in the axial direction of this step is varied at every pi/4 radians, the minimum height is h1, the maximum height is h1+h2+h3+h4=H(provided that h1=h2=h3=h4=h), and these steps are formed so as to be symmetrical to the axis. When one pair of two step rolls 8 constituted in this way are combined as shown in the figure and its combination angle is varied, length L in the axial direction can be varied in four ways such as H+h, H+2h, H+3h and 2H.
